KORVUS Frontman Guests On New EVERLASTING DESCENT Track
January 13, 2008Sam Korvus, creator and frontman of UK black metal band KORVUS, has made a guest appearance on "Opaque Liquid Soul", the debut track from EVERLASTING DESCENT.
Formed in 2006, EVERLASTING DESCENT is the side project of Elle Torry (WORMS OF SABNOCK, THE MEADS OF ASPHODEL) and Sander Wessels (THE WOUNDED). The song "Opaque Liquid Soul" was originally recorded in December of that year, but due to location — Torry is UK-based, while Wessels is based in Holland — and some technical difficulties, completion had to be delayed until recently.
The track can be heard on www.myspace.com/everlastingdescent.
In addition to providing the vocals, Korvus — who as well as being an artist, is also a producer specializing in extreme music — mixed and mastered the track and handled the drum programming.
Unlike his own project KORVUS, which is one of the innovators in the current resurgence of UK black metal, EVERLASTING DESCENT plays a unique blend of progressive death metal.
KORVUS' debut album, "In the Name of Lucifer", was released in September 2007 on his own independent label, Korvus Productions. Commenting on why he chose to release and produce the album himself, as well as record all the instruments and vocals, Sam Korvus says: "Working as an independent artist creates a great advantage in that it allows me to have complete control over every aspect of my music, rather than trying to describe to someone else how I want it to sound. Production plays a huge role in creating the right atmosphere on any piece, so it is important for me to be in control of that side of the music, as well as the performance and composition. This is also one of the reasons I chose to set up my own label rather than sign my music away to someone else. I have heard too many cases of labels forcing their artists to compromise their music in a way that results in its losing the most important elements, and I am not willing to make that compromise."
The band's live lineup is augmented by Liam Peaston on rhythm guitars, James Dickenson on bass, and Sam Curtis on drums.
Tracks from KORVUS' "In the Name of Lucifer" can be heard on the band's official MySpace page.
